Heather's Crown

The Heather's Crown is a circular ridge within , given over by its people as a graveyard. It takes its name from the heather sage that reddens its summit.

Description

The Crown is a ring of raised ground. Heather sage covers its top in a red and purpling pink, and graves are set into it the whole way round. From the country below the headstones stand out of the ridge like the points of a crown, which is held to be the origin of the name.

Burial

Virtue

The heather sage is held to be a keeper of the dead. It is said to keep them from souring, and to bar what would trouble those that must rest. Its protective power is much spoken of, and the ground is given over to it as much for this as for its beauty.

Shimmers

Seen from a distance, the Crown is said to shimmer. The legend goes that the glints are jewels pushed up from the ground by the dead; sought close to, they are never found.
